"All literary men are Red Sox fans - to be a Yankee fan in a literate society is to endanger your life." - John Cheever
Well, Paul, If it means anything, my Dad, a factory worker, was a life-long fan of the Red Sox... and, in his house, if a visitor dared declare an allegiance to "the god-damned Yankees", they were promptly shown the door! :-)
He died in 2001... when the Red Sox won the World Series several years later, I didn't know whether to laugh or cry.
You needn't post this comment... I just needed to say it.
